I am having terrible back pain, and a loss of strength in my left hand. I think it happened because I didn't play for a month and then when I started back in again I tried to play catch-up to get back to my previous level. I literally played through every flamenco piece I know and then for good measure played a bunch of classical stuff that I do.
Well, now I have a terrible pain in the left side of my back up near the left shoulder, and I am unable to press down hard with my left hand on the strings. Also the tendons of my left arm are sore. There is also a sense of loss of coordination with my left hand fingers. Some passages I cannot play at all due to this.
The good news is that my right side, right arm and right hand are 100% okay!
I figure I have to stop playing for awhile to let things heal and then start back in only after I slowly do simple warm-up scales, picados etc.
Anybody else ever have this type of pain?
If so, what did you do to remedy it? I am taking anti-inflammatories like Advil and Motrin, plus I am placing ice packs on the painful spot in back.
Thanks.
